“We can confirm that yesterday (on Friday, editor’s note) a man died in Ostrava-Porubá. One person was arrested in connection with this. Criminal investigators are intensively investigating the circumstances of the man’s death. Currently, we cannot provide more information,” said Michalíková.

Polar regional television reported on its website that the man had died from stab wounds and that police had detained his partner. The TV also speculates that it could have been self-defense.

According to the spokesman for the Moravian-Silesian rescuers, Lukáš Humpl, it was a 20-year-old man who was found right in the apartment near Jan Neruda Square, where the young man lived with his partner.

“The man’s injury led to circulatory failure shortly after the arrival of the rescuers, resuscitation did not lead to the restoration of cardiac function, and the intervening doctor finally had to declare the patient dead,” added Humpl.

According to the neighbor, the couple in the apartment building was considered problematic. “She was much older than him and they probably didn’t get along very well. Arguments and children’s cries were often heard from them. We were worried about them, but we didn’t interfere in their affairs. We probably had,” said a neighbor of MF DNES.
