A 35-year-old driver drove off the road in Brno-Žebětín on Wednesday afternoon and crashed into a tree, he died on the spot.
Police spokesman David Chaloupka told the media on Thursday. The police are investigating the cause of the accident. No one else was injured. The road was closed at the scene of the accident for about two hours due to the removal of the consequences of the accident.
The accident happened shortly after 4:00 p.m. “The driver veered off the road in a curve and crashed into a tree. We are investigating the cause of the accident,” said Chaloupka. It could be, for example, a technical fault or a failure to adjust the speed. Firefighters also intervened in the accident, taking fire-fighting measures and covering the leaked operating fluids with a sorbent.
The rescuers sent two crews, they resuscitated the man. “Despite all our efforts, it was not possible to restore his vital functions,” said the spokeswoman for rescuers, Michaela Bothová.
This is the fifth victim of traffic accidents in the South Moravian Region in January. All five people died in the second half of January. One person died after an accident on January 23rd in Hodonínsk, three people died after an accident on January 24th on the D1 highway in Vyškovsk.
