“The driver of a 1995 Ford Fusion was driving in the direction from the village of Bělá nad Radbuzou to the village of Vítání. In the village of Štítary, for unknown reasons, he drove off the road to the left, where he crashed head-on into a building. The driver was airlifted to the hospital, where he was taken blood to determine whether he was under the influence of alcohol while driving. He was traveling alone in the vehicle. The police are still investigating the cause and circumstances of the traffic accident,” said police spokeswoman Iva Vršecká.
“The man probably lost consciousness due to a medical condition, suffered a moderate injury after the impact and was transported by air to the emergency department of the FN-Lochotín while conscious,” added the information provided by the spokeswoman for the rescuers, Mária Svobodová.
According to the responding firefighters, the driver was freed from the vehicle by witnesses of the accident before their arrival. They then disconnected the batteries and took fire precautions.
