Fourth time. This season, the Tipsport extraliga saw the meeting of two of the most traditional hockey teams in the Czech Republic for the fourth time. Somewhat paradoxically, Pardubice and Sparta parted amicably and both teams took home two victories each. The people of Prague achieved the latter in the enteria arena when they won 3:1 and thus ended the winning streak of the home team, which had already lasted ten games.

The hockey players from Pardubice did not manage this year’s fourth meeting with Sparta and lost 1:3 on home ice.

A fight between two Goliaths. The duel between Sparta and Pardubice always offers a meeting between two teams that compete with each other on all possible horizons. Whether it is spectator support at home matches or position in the Tipsport extraliga table.

The last matchup of these two teams this year, in which Sparta won in the end, was no different. But let’s start from the beginning.

The first period started ideally for Pardubice, when Patrik Poulíček took advantage of the power play with a skillful run. Over time, however, the guests increased their pace and at the end of the opening act, they received a well-deserved reward. Kousal first took advantage of the numerical advantage, and immediately Krejčík also gained ground from another power play.

The second and the general majority of the third part took place in a balanced state, and neither team made a breakthrough. Everything changed only at the end of the match, in which Dynamo tried to play without a goalkeeper, and this time this effort did not work out for the home hockey players. Pardubice were at a numerical disadvantage and Buchtele swept the gallows of Will’s goal at the very end of the match and decided Sparta’s victory in the ratio of 3:1.

Marek Zadina (head coach of HC Dynamo Pardubice): “I think that the first third was very fragmented. There was a lot of overpowering, weakening. Unfortunately, the special teams decided today, we got three goals in a weakened state and we, on the other hand, did not help ourselves much with numerical advantages, which somewhat determined the nature of the game. In the 5 on 5 game, the boys worked hard, skated well, finished 1 on 1 situations, pushed each other, what we wanted from them. I think I can’t fault them, they played another good match, but today we didn’t help ourselves with the power play and I think that decided the match.”
