In a traffic accident, five passenger cars collided this afternoon on the I/37 road in Chrudim. Paramedics treated three people with minor injuries. The accident happened behind Trhová Kamenica between Rohozna and Nova Vsí.

The road was closed, now it is passable by a shuttle. Police spokeswoman Markéta Janovská told ČTK after 5:00 p.m.

The accident happened around 2:30 p.m. Initial information varied. The situation was very confusing, the rescuers had reported that six vehicles had collided, rescue spokeswoman Alena Kisiala told ČTK.

“We sent five crews from the health service of the Pardubice Region to the site. The air service of the Hradec Králové region also took off. There were 12 participants in the accident at the scene, three of whom were taken by ambulance to the Pardubice Hospital with minor injuries,” said Kisiala.

According to Janovská, a Škoda Octavia was driving from Rohozná, which suddenly stopped. Four other cars remained standing behind the vehicle, the fifth arriving Volkswagen car crashed into the last of them.

“The fourth car in a row then crashed into the third car. The Volkswagen then drove in the opposite direction, where it collided head-on with the Citroën. Then an Audi also came from Rohozná and went into the ditch,” said Janovská. According to her, five cars were involved in the accident.

All drivers had a negative breath test. The driver of the Octavia committed an offense by stopping without reason and the police will report him to the administrative authority. The driver of the Volkswagen and the female driver and passenger from the Citroën were injured. (ČTK)
