There is serious talk that the Czech Republic will be the destination where large Polish retail chains will begin to expand rapidly. It turned out that domestic customers are interested in them. The greatest interest would certainly be in Biedronka, which is already opening its first store in Slovakia and its arrival in the Czech Republic is imminent.

Emphasis on price

That they are nothing illusory is evidenced by another popular chain, which does not sell food, but also focuses on extremely low prices. This is the Polish HalfPrice, which did not hesitate to open its largest store in Central Europe right away in Prague. This clearly shows how much they believe in the local market.

HalfPrice is apparently not afraid of the growing competition on the Czech market, where after years of promises, Primark has also started to operate, where Czechs like to go a lot. However, the opening of the new store clearly indicated that the interest in it would be huge. Discount vouchers were even given out, because discounts are the main thing here.

The store concept is different to Primark. While the latter sells its own range at very low prices, HalfPrice concentrates on selling high-end goods from famous brands, which it sells extremely cheaply. They are run-of-the-mill collections, possibly several years old, which were not even sold in outlets. And so they can have more than attractive price tags.

Great shopping

I don’t shop anywhere as well as here. Although you have to spend a lot of time here, you will find truly fantastic pieces for which you would pay thousands of crowns elsewhere. They’ll run you a few hundred here,” says Mrs. Jiřina, whom we caught up with in the store. “In the Czech Republic, high-quality fashion is completely ridiculously expensive, and you can’t go abroad all the time. But you can get it here for great prices.

It is easy to see from this store that it is a Polish business that focuses on price and does not try to charge customers ridiculous margins. They then reward him by making frequent and repeated purchases from him. At the same time, they speak positively about him and thus advertise for free.
