The majority of foodstuffs, which are regularly monitored by the Czech Statistical Office (ČSÚ), rose in price month-on-month in April. The price per kilogram of apples rose the most, by 9.07 percent to 37.28 crowns. A kilogram of plain wheat flour also cost 7.04 percent more – 21.14 crowns. It rose in April against March price nine of the 13 items monitored by the CZSO. A cup of white yogurt cost exactly three percent more, i.e. 10.66 crowns, and a kilogram brick of edamame, which cost 180.95 crowns. The price of a kilogram of roast pork rose by 3.22 percent to 180.42 kroner, and people also paid a little more, from one to two percent, for potatoes, light bottled beer, sugar or butter. On the contrary, ten eggs became cheaper month-on-month by approximately five percent to 43.62 crowns in April. It had a lower price year-on-year as well, by more than a quarter. More significantly, by 18.39 percent, compared to last year, sugar became cheaper and by 14.27 percent to 23.85 crowns per liter of semi-skimmed milk. Compared to the previous year, it increased in April price five items. Potatoes were closely followed by beer, which was sold five percent more expensive than last year. A slight increase in prices also affected roast pork, apples and butter. From March give CZSO follows that prices of industrial producers remained unchanged year-on-year, prices in agriculture fell by 13.2 percent, prices of construction works increased by 1.6 percent and services for businesses rose by 4.1 percent. Then monthly prices of agricultural producers increased by 3.2 percent, prices construction works by 0.3 percent, prices market services by 0.7 percent and prices industrial producers, on the other hand, fell by 0.1 percent. According to analysts, this development does not give reason for consumer inflation to revive. In the coming months, however, it will moderate the pace of food price reduction, they commented at the time.
