Today’s weather in the Czech Republic will again be affected by Saharan dust, which will cause cloudiness that was not predicted by meteorological models. This phenomenon may reduce the expected maximum temperatures, which were expected to rise to 25 degrees.

This was reported by the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ) via the X network. Saharan dust has already reached the Czech Republic several times this year, even causing smog in most areas during the Easter weekend.

Today’s dust flows into the Czech Republic from the southwest, originally even from the northwestern Sahara. “This time, it is located in high and medium clouds, which are significantly more extensive and powerful than the numerical models estimated,” said the ČHMÚ.

For example, in Pilsen, it was expected to be clear in the morning, but in reality, high and medium clouds are already partly covering the sky from the southwest, as meteorologists pointed out.

This phenomenon occurs during storms over the Sahara, during which a large amount of sand gets into the air. Thanks to the force of the wind, this sand dust can then reach Europe or neighboring African states.
