A total of 177 traffic accidents, one dead, three seriously and twenty-seven slightly injured. On top of the total damage for almost 11.16 million crowns. Roads in the Ústí Region have had a dismal record of accidents in the past week.

Most accidents were caused by drivers in Mosteck, namely 32, with Ústí nad Labem and Teplice sharing the second place with three dozen accidents. Third place is held by Litomerice with 27 wrecks. They are then followed by Chomutov (19), Děčín (17) and Louny (15). Traffic police officers of the highway department in Řehlovice dealt with seven traffic accidents.

As reported by regional police spokeswoman Pavla Mašínová, the most common cause of collisions was the wrong way of driving, namely in 104 cases. “In eighteen cases, the cause was failure to give way, and in sixteen cases too high a speed. “Nine drivers were driving under the influence of alcohol,” she added.
