Today is the deadline for submitting considered bids for the construction and those of new nuclear reactors. Applicants are French EDF and Korean KHNP. According to preliminary information from news agencies, the company submitted updated offers. A decision should be made by the summer on the issue of nuclear weapons and the issue of nuclear blocks. Construction of the first block should start in 2029 and the block should be commissioned by 2036.
It is unclear whether any details of the bids will emerge today, but it is expected that details of the bids will not be made public for some time. We expect that the purchased so-called overhead costs (without future inflation and financing costs) could reach between 3.5-5.0 million EUR/MW in the case of two or more blocks, while the price for one block could reach 4 .5-7.0 million EUR/MW. The requested capacity of one block is up to 1.2 GW (EdF nabz 1.2GW, KHNP then 1.0GW blocks).
Oekvme, e EZ start the construction of the first block according to the two agreed scheme with the government (full financing and 99% of CAPEX, full commitment to pay the total costs of changes due to changes in nuclear/safety regulation provided by 30-60-year two-way CfD or via PPA for a large amount of future production). If EZ/stt would like to build two or more blocks (which seems likely), the parties will have to agree on a new financing scheme for additional blocks.
