The art competition for children and youth for valuable prizes is starting again

--

The art competition for children and youth, which is announced annually by the Karlovy Vary region, is starting again. It takes place from May 2 to June 28, 2024. This time, the task of the little artists will be to paint a picture on the theme “Karlovary region – my home”. The best works will be rewarded with mobile phones, tablets and MP3 players.

“This is an annual competition that enjoys great interest. Last year alone, 152 artists from our region took part in it. This year, we would like the children to think about where they come from, what is specific to their surroundings and what they are proud of, or vice versa. There will certainly be a number of those things, because the Karlovy Vary region is a unique place to live, which can boast, for example, unique natural and cultural wealth. I am therefore curious myself how children perceive it and how they manage to transfer their thoughts and feelings to paper. As usual, there are no limits to imagination,” said the governor of the Karlovy Vary Region, Petr Kulhánek.

The goal art competitions is to support the children’s sense of belonging to the place where they live, i.e. to the Karlovy Vary region, and at the same time to obtain from them a unique view of the home in which they grow up. They compete in two age categories. The first is intended for artists between the ages of 6 and 10, while the second is dedicated to older creatives from 11 to 15 years old. Various art techniques can be used, the only limitation is the size of the submitted work, which should not exceed A3 format. Detailed rules are published on the website of the Karlovy Vary region.

In each category, the expert jury will select the three most successful works, whose authors will receive valuable prizes in the form of the aforementioned mobile phones, tablets and MP3 players. These will be handed over to them as part of the results announcement ceremony after the summer holidays. The results of the competition will subsequently be published on the website of the Karlovy Vary region, social networks and in the periodical Krajské listy. The public can also look forward to an accompanying exhibition in the foyer of the regional office, where some of the submitted works will be on display. The selection will be made by an expert jury headed by Jan Samec, director of the Karlovy Vary Art Gallery.
