The Czech currency ended today almost unchanged against the euro, around 17:00 it was a penny stronger against Friday’s close at 25.02 EUR/CZK. Against the dollar, it strengthened by three pennies to USD/CZK 23.21. This follows from information on the Patria Online server.
“In the afternoon, the koruna is closer to 25.00 EUR/CZK,” noted Patria Finance analyst Tomáš Vlk. The Czech currency was helped today by optimism on the markets in combination with bets on a slowdown in the pace of rate cuts by the Czech National Bank, Next Finance analysts said.
Purple Trading analyst Jaroslav Tupý drew attention to the interview of CNB banking board member Karina Kubelková for Czech Television (ČT). “She confirmed that they will be strict and cautious as a bank board. At each subsequent monetary meeting, they will evaluate new data, risks and uncertainties and decide on the level of interest rates accordingly,” said Tupý. Now, according to Kubelk, interest rates are slightly above the trajectory shown by the new forecast, and the Bank Board is therefore slightly stricter in its decision-making, he added.
Today, the koruna stagnated against the euro at 25.26 CZK/EUR, and it still remains the strongest since April 2018. Against the dollar, the Czech currency weakened by five halers, at 17:00 it was trading at 22.72 CZK/USD, according to the Patria Online server. Trading in the koruna was calm today, the currency could react to the economic data that will be published in the next two days.
