Autobiographical elements

It is very painfully projected into the film Death of Beautiful Fawns the topic of concentration camps and the Nazi occupation of Czechoslovakia. A comfortable stay at a cottage in the bosom of nature suddenly becomes a fight for life – and especially an effort to protect the lives of your family. At the same time, the author of the book did not invent it – his brothers were actually called up to be transported to Terezín in 1943from where they later traveled to Auschwitz.

AND the movie dad has a real model, namely the author’s father, who actually gave his sons meat on the way to the concentration camp, possibly saving them from death. And so, in Death of the Beautiful Fawns, we follow the protagonist Leo’s ferocious effort to hunt down a stout fawn to give its meat to his sons who are called up for transport. And he tries to do it even though he knows that poaching is punishable by death.
