A fatal accident closed the stretch from Vary to Prague, the truck “parked” in a field

--

A truck and three cars collided on the road before 3 p.m. The truck overturned in the accident. “The 73-year-old driver suffered injuries incompatible with life, from which he unfortunately died on the spot,” said police spokesman Jan Bílek.

“Three of our rescue crews are responding to the accident. One person succumbed to injuries, another was wedged in the car and after being freed, was transported by air ambulance with serious injuries. Other people are already out of the cars. However, the extent of the injuries has not yet been specified,” said regional rescue service spokesman Radek Hes. Five fire units were also on the scene.

Shortly after 5 p.m., officers said the scene was still under investigation and the road would be closed until the evening. According to the dopravniinfo.cz website, traffic will resume before 11 p.m.

“Unfortunately, this is the second fatal traffic accident in Karlovy Vary within a few hours,” stated Bílek.

He thus recalled the case from Monday night, when an hour before midnight in Jáchymovská street in Karlovy Vary, a twenty-one-year-old drunk driver failed to drive and skidded through concrete barriers and ended up with his car on a slope. His co-passenger, the same age, succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
