In connection with the planned assassination of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, two colonels of his bodyguards committed high treason and wanted to carry out a terrorist attack, the Ukrainian Civilian Counterintelligence (SBU) confirmed. Members of the head of state’s bodyguards were supposed to pass on sensitive information to the Russians, and in addition to killing Zelensky, they also planned other murders of high-ranking state officials. The removal of Zelensky was supposed to be “a gift to Vladimir Putin before the inauguration”. The Ukrainska pravda website writes about it.
Two State Guard colonels were found guilty of high treason and aiding and abetting a terrorist attack, the SBU reported. In cooperation with counterintelligence, she managed to uncover a network of agents that also reached the circles of constitutional officials, writes the Ukrainská pravda website.

The network was overseen by the Russian Secret Service (FSB). The accused colonels also passed classified information to Russia. Their goal was to find people around Zelensky who would first kidnap and later kill the president. The spies are allegedly facing a life sentence behind bars, the Livy Bereh website reports.
The pair also intended to plot the removal of the head of the secret service of Ukraine, Vasyl Malyuk, the head of military intelligence, Kyryl Budanov, and other high-ranking state officials. Maljuk said that only a few insiders knew about the operation to expose the spy network, everything was conducted under strict secrecy.
The terrorist attack not only on Zelensky was supposed to be “a gift to Russian President Vladimir Putin before his inauguration.” According to the uncovered plans, the agent in question was supposed to monitor the movement of the guarded agent and transmit information about his location.
Subsequently, a rocket attack was supposed to take place according to the coordinates of the house. After that, the remaining people were to be killed on the spot by a drone, whose activity would be covered by another, second in sequence, missile attack. He should have covered his tracks. That’s how the conspirators wanted to get rid of Budanov, for example.
One of the colonels personally transported FPV drones, RPG-7 charges and MON-90 anti-personnel mines to Kyiv. The SBU managed to record his trips for the arsenal to another Ukrainian region along with conversations with a Russian FSB contact.
