Chinese Foreign Ministry Responds to US Crisis Against China for Overreacting to Taiwan Strait Situation

Speaking about the US crisis against China for overreacting to the Taiwan Strait situation, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Zhao Lijian said at a regular press conference on Wednesday that the causes and effects of the tense situation in the Taiwan Strait are very clear. Who will be responsible for this is also very clear.

According to the report, a spokesman for the US Department of Defense’s chief representative said in response to a question about the Taiwan Strait situation that China’s reaction is excessive and is a provocation, but the United States’ reaction is excessive and responsible. In this regard, Zhao Lijian pointed out: “The United States first provoked, and the Chinese side’s countermeasure is late, and it is also rational, legal, necessary and appropriate. The United States has broken the promise of one China, harmed China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The US war fleet has often displayed its military might in the waters around China under the influence of free navigation, but criticized China for provocation. This behavior does not correspond to reality, China will not accept it, nor will it be recognized by the international community.

Zhao Lijian stressed that the United States should stop distorting the one-China principle, adhere to the basic principles of international relations of respecting national sovereignty, territorial integrity and non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries, and return to adhering to the three communiqués between China and the United States and the principle of one China, instead of avoiding responsibility and even trying to create a bigger crisis.

On the same day, at a regular press conference, Zhao Lijian expressed her condolences on the death of former Soviet Union leader Mikhail Gorbachev and expressed her condolences to their family members.

Zhao Lijian pointed out that Mr. Gorbachev is making a positive contribution to the normalization of Chinese relations.

On the same day, at a regular press conference, Zhao Lijian expressed her condolences on the death of Japan’s famous businessman Kazuo Inamoria, and expressed her condolences to their family members.

According to reports, Japan’s well-known businessman and Kyocera founder Kazuo Inamori died in Kyoto on August 24. Mr. Inamori visited China many times before his life and also has high popularity in China.

In this regard, Zhao Lijian said: “Mr. Inamori is a world-renowned businessman and has made positive contributions to the development of Japan’s economy, science and cultural affairs and the promotion of friendly exchange and cooperation between China and Japan. All industries of the two countries cooperate and deeply integrate the interests between the two sides. I wish that various circles of the two countries will strive for the stable and healthy development of China-Japan relations.”

On the same day, Zhao Lijian said in a regular press conference that NATO claimed that cooperation between China and Russia was a challenge to NATO’s value and interests, which again exposed NATO’s attempt to withdraw from the Cold War.

During a visit to Canada a few days ago, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg claimed that cooperation between Russia and China in the Arctic region does not meet the interests of NATO member countries, so NATO will strengthen its presence in the region. In response, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia considers Jens Stoltenberg’s speech regarding the expansion of deployment in the Arctic region as a confrontation with Russia in the region. When Zhao Lijian answered the relevant question, he pointed out: “Mr. Peskov said well! NATO argued that cooperation between China and Russia was a challenge to NATO’s values and interests, which was again revealed by NATO’s output of Cold War thinking and the attempt to copy the camp confrontation. NATO should immediately abandon ideas and actions that will create chaos in the world. The natural situation and its changes in the North Pole have direct impacts on China’s nature, production and people’s lives. Environmental protection, climate change, sustainable development and other global issues are closely related to China. This is a geographical, natural and social reality that cannot be denied.”

Zhao Lijian stressed that China respects the sovereign rights and jurisdiction of Arctic countries in the Arctic region. China always upholds the basic principles of respect, cooperation, win-win and sustainability to strengthen cooperation with countries in the Arctic region and promote environmental protection and sustainable development in the region.

In response to the visit of the Republican Party governor of the US state of Arizona to Taiwan, Zhao Lijian pointed out that relevant parties in the United States should stop sending the wrong signal to the “Taiwan independence” force.

Zhao Lijian emphasized that there is only one China in the world and Taiwan is an inseparable part of Chinese territory. China has always strongly opposed the United States to conduct official exchanges with Taiwan in any form with any name.

Zhao Lijian said: “We call on the relevant US parties to abide by the provisions of the three joint communiques between China and the United States, to stop official communication with Taiwan in any form, to stop sending the wrong signal to the “Taiwan independence” force. China will take strong measures to defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
