Schurter won the World Biker Cup for the eighth time, Keller ruled the women’s

Titouan Carod continued his winning streak today. The French biker, who celebrated his first win in Canada a month ago and also dominated Friday’s short track in Val di Sole, today beat Schurter by 35 seconds. Cink was 3:06 minutes behind him in 14th place and overall took 29th place in the SP. Lukáš Kobes finished in 45th place, Matěj Průdek was classified as 83rd.

Thirty-six-year-old Schurter, who equaled the record of French legend Julien Absalon by winning the opening race of the year, had to settle for second place for the third time. He added two more third places in the season, the worst was sixth and dominated the series even though he had to miss one race due to a shoulder injury.

The leading woman of the series so far, Anne Terpstra from the Netherlands, and the second Rebecca McConnell from Australia ended up on the losing side in Italy. Point gains from both short track and Olympic cross country were included in the overall standings. In the cup season, Keller won one race in each discipline, in August she also became vice-champion of the world in short track.

The race was won by world champion Pauline Ferrandová-Prévotová, who dominated Friday’s short track in Val di Sole, just as she did at the World Championships in Lenzerheide. Overall, even considering the three omitted parts of the SP, she finished eleventh. Jitka Čábelická took 29th place and was classified in the 48th position as the Czech number one in the SP ranking.
