Many of you may not be familiar with The Mortuary Assistant, but it was a big hit on Twitch a few weeks ago. The principle of this horror movie was to take care of dead patients who were waiting to be cremated. However, due to the theme of the game, the patients are not completely lifeless, as a demon enters their bodies. The player then has to solve mysteries through the game and use the behavior of individual patients to guess in which the demon is really hiding and then burn the body.
- The game The Mortuary Assistant will get a movie treatment
- Filming will be done by director Jeremiah Kipp
The game has been quite a success thanks to its novel theme and it seems that the theme has also been liked by the creators in the film industry. Studio DreadXP, which is behind the development of the game, announced that the title will also be adapted into a film. The director will be Jeremiah Kipp, according to whom the film should become a complementary piece. “I want to keep the minimalist morgue setting, the focus on embalming the bodies, and the nerve-wracking horror of the gameplay,” says Kipp.
It is said that the plans for filming appeared even before the explosion of popularity, but the success further supported the whole effort. While such a plan may seem odd, DreadXP publisher’s parent company is Epic Pictures Group, which has quite a diverse catalog of films. With a joint effort, they want to offer smaller but high-quality developers the opportunity to release a game and at the same time get a film adaptation.
