Whoever disagrees, let him not | iRADIO

You radio listeners are very lucky. You simply turn on some device, a radio receiver at home on the table or in the dashboard of the car, nowadays more and more often in the form of an application on a mobile phone, and you listen to what you want, for example this talk of mine.

You can be sure that this content will not be reported: The radio station asks for your consent to use your personal data and it will be processed, stored and may be accessed and shared with third party vendors and so on.

Don’t worry, it won’t happen. By the way, where did I get the sample text? On web pages of the Moscow newspaper Pravda.

More or less the same litany will be offered to you by the New York Times, as well as the Chinese Renmin Ribao. And millions of other websites.

I don’t remember when this plague hit the internet space, I just know that it wasn’t there before and now it is.

At the same time, data sharing is the principle of communication on the Internet. Something somewhere has to know who you are and what you are, and it has to write something down on your computer to make communication easier. The difference is that from a certain point someone invented that you have to agree with it.

Better pay attention

It reminds me a lot of Joseph Heller’s famous novel Chapter XXII. In one episode, Captain Black also introduced such consent there. It takes the form of an oath of allegiance.

When the soldiers wanted the financier to pay them their wages, “they had to sign an oath of loyalty to him. They had to sign them in order to buy something at the local military store or to have their hair cut by Italian barbers”, end of a quote from a very long passage.

Yes, there is blunt military bullying behind it. What is consent to the use of personal data? Same principle.

Above all, there is a complete lack of expediency. You have to agree to something that is technically necessary and that you cannot prevent and there is no point in preventing it.

You will not and cannot prevent possible manipulation, as you have no influence on the data once it is admitted to the Internet.

As radio listeners, you’re lucky that qualified consent can’t apply on the radio. But you can think of warnings like the movie broadcasting services have: caution, foul language, violence, smoking.

A beep would sound before each broadcasted contribution, the contribution may injure the audience of the age group from to affected by health damage category from to and social classification from to.

Are you saying this is bullshit? But then pay attention, because then it has a strong hope of being realized.
