On Thursday morning, on the main railway corridor near Zábřeh in Šumpersko, a Pendolina set and a passenger train were traveling towards each other on the same track and stopped a few tens of meters apart, said Martin Drápal, a spokesman for the Railway Inspectorate. Traffic on the corridor was stopped due to the investigation, from 10:00 a.m. traffic was resumed on one track, České dráhy reported. Trains are running late.
The trains found themselves facing each other on one track on the main railway corridor between Olomouc and Prague in the section between Krasíkov and Hoštejn. “Today at 08:46 there was an unsecured run of the Pendolino train going from Bohumín to Františkovy Lázně and the passenger train going from Česká Třebová to Zábřeh in Moravia. According to the information we have, the trains stopped several tens of meters apart,” said the spokesperson of the Railway Inspection Drápal.
According to him, it is not yet clear who caused the error. “It cannot be said yet, colleagues are heading to the scene of the emergency and will conduct their own investigation. At the moment, it is not yet possible to say where the cause is,” Drápal added.
The operation on the track was interrupted, the website of the Czech Railways gives the reason as a traffic problem. At 10:00 a.m. traffic was restored to a limited extent. “Traffic between the stations Zábřeh na Moravě and Rudoltice is ensured on one of the two tracks, beyond the point of restriction an increase in delays of five to 25 minutes can be expected,” the railways said. Some trains are already an hour late.
