--

His wife Akshata Murty, who is from a very rich Indian family, will move into the Prime Minister’s residence in Downing Street with Sunak, her billionaire father is considered the 6th richest man in the country. The couple got married in 2009 in Bengaluru, India, the wedding celebrations lasted two days. The couple met at Stanford University. Together they stand on the 222nd place in the list of the richest Britons.

Scandals of the Prime Minister

Murty has her own fashion label, Akshata Designs, and is also the head of Catamaran Ventures UK, already founded in 2010 by her father NR Narayana Murty, co-founder of multinational technology giant Infosys.

Murty confirmed in April this year that she had the tax status of a person living in Britain, but with a permanent residence outside the country, so she did not have to pay tax on foreign income. And she agreed that he will start paying tax on all his income in Britain. Another scandal she faced was that the family company Infosys continued to operate in Moscow despite sanctions and the war in Ukraine.

The wife is a fashion lover

According to acquaintances, Murty already loved fashion and clothes as a little girl, which “didn’t make sense” to her mother – an engineer, who was not inclined to “tolerate nonsense”. And so the first steps of the new British prime minister led to the field of finance and marketingshe returned to her passion only later, when she began collaborating with artists from isolated Indian villages.

“I am interested in the story of each piece, its authenticity, the way it was created in an effort to protect this rich cultural heritage,” explained Murty to Vogue magazine. “We live in a materialistic society and over the last few decades it has become easier to sell products to the general public, mainly thanks to globalization,” she continued.

Sunak and his wife have amassed a large fortune together, investing a lot of money in real estate, according to the British press, they have at least 4 mansions, including a house in Kensington, it is a reconstructed carriage stable, estimated to be worth more than 196 million crowns.

The couple have two young daughters, Krishna and Anoushka, but Sunak keeps them out of the media spotlight. “I’m definitely not bored with my wife and children,” the ex-minister let himself be heard in the past, he rarely shares pictures with his daughters on social networks.

During the week, the family is mostly in London at their Kensington mansion, for the weekend they go to a country estate in North Yorkshire. Their other properties are located in Santa Monica, California. According to the press, Sunak still has a flat in central London.

And what family did Sunak marry into?

The prime minister’s father-in-law NR Narayana Murty founded Infosys in the early 1980s and was the company’s executive director until 2002, then headed the Infosys board until 2011. He is now retired, but still holds the position of chairman emeritus of the board of directors. In India, he is nicknamed the “father of the Indian IT sector”. In 1981, he founded his company with less than 3 thousand crowns, which he borrowed from his wife.

Sunak’s mother-in-law is Sudha Mury, an Indian engineer, teacher and writer, who also holds a position in Infosys, specifically in a foundation under the company. But she is probably best known for her activities as a social worker and writer, she is the author of several novellas. She also comes from a distinguished family, her father was a surgeon RH Kulkarni, her brother was an award-winning astronomer Shrinivas Ramchandra Kulkarni. Murty is also known to be a movie lover, reportedly owning 500 DVDs.

Sunak’s critics

The opposition and critics from the ranks of conservatives blame Sunak the most for the fact that he has a huge distance from the current economic crisis.

Confusion and controversy have also arisen over Sunak’s undeclared assets or his green immigration card to the United States, which he kept active even months after he became British Chancellor of the Exchequer. And like ex-prime minister Boris Johnson, Sunak was also fined for failing to comply with the government’s anti-epidemic measures in the so-called partygate that largely caused Johnson’s downfall.
