A 30-year-old Jewish woman was found stabbed to death in her apartment in Lyon, France. His life is not in danger. The attacker drew a swastika on her door and is still on the run. The prosecutor’s office suspects anti-Semitism as a possible motive for the attack, foreign media write.

Police are searching for a man who stabbed and wounded a Jewish woman in Lyon, France on Saturday afternoon and a swastika was painted on the door of her apartment, police and the city’s mayor said. The attacker, whose face was covered, stabbed the woman twice in the stomach.
“The woman opened the door and the attacker greeted her and immediately attacked her with a knife,” he said CNN Prime News the victim’s lawyer Stéphane Drai told BFMTV, adding that “the woman’s family is known for their Jewish faith”.
“Such a violent act is unthinkable. I offer all my support to the victim and his relatives,” Lyon mayor Gregory Doucet said on the X network.
A swastika was found painted on the door of the apartment of the stabbed woman. A national police spokesman did not provide any further details about the suspect and said he could not yet confirm whether police were treating the attack as an anti-Semitic hate crime, the agency said Reuters.
Police are appealing for witnesses with any information. No one has been arrested yet. Countries around the world are reporting an increase in anti-Semitic and Islamophobic crimes following the October 7 attack on Israel by Hamas.
