Hundreds of thousands of people filled the streets of London today in another wave of pro-Palestinian and Islamist protests. Muslim attacks took place in several places. Two very viral ones happened at London’s Victoria Station. An elderly couple faced indiscriminate verbal abuse from Muslims, presumably because of the patriotic brooches the man and woman wore on their lapels commemorating the anniversary of the end of the First World War. A shocking video of a woman crying as police intervene not against Muslims, but against an attacked couple, went viral on the X network. Local Development Minister Michael Gove also faced Islamists at the same station, and he had to escape with the help of the police, informs, informs The Standard and The Telegraph website. As can be seen from later footage, the situation did not calm down at the station even in the evening. Police there face firework and firecracker attacks.
Today was the anniversary of the end of the First World War and at the same time another wave of pro-Palestinian and Islamist protests was taking place, so all kinds of skirmishes and riots were expected. One such event took place at London’s Victoria Station. Footage of the fight quickly made the rounds on the X social network, formerly known as Twitter. What preceded the clash is not evident from the footage. But from the beginning of the video, an elderly man and a woman can be seen wearing patriotic badges on their clothes, which were probably the reason for the heated argument. A Muslim starts shouting at a man who is not afraid of him, a woman in a hijab who belongs to him at first calms the man down, but then joins in the argument and physically pushes the man in a jacket with a patriotic brooch away. The whole incident is watched by other Muslims who are gesticulating at the couple, shouting and documenting the fight on their phones. Towards the end, the police can be seen arriving, trying to resolve the situation. However, he surprisingly confronts the couple and pushes them away from the Muslims. This upsets the woman, who has not been seen so far, but it is obvious that she belongs to the man in the jacket because she also has a brooch. Distraught, she explains the situation to one of the officers, which moves her to tears. Several users commented on the video on the network, most of them do not understand why there was a conflict because of the brooch.
The London Transport Police also commented on the video later. “We are aware of a video circulating on social media showing a dispute between two groups of people at Victoria Station today. BTP officers intervened to prevent the situation from escalating and endangering the traveling public,” the transport police said on the X network.
It seems the two elderly Brits weren’t intimidated at random. Another video released later shows a man and woman selling symbolic red poppies at the station to mark Veterans Day and the end of the war. However, they are provoked by pro-Palestinian demonstrators who march around the stand with a pro-Palestinian banner.
The Telegraph. Victoria Station was the target of attacks by protesters earlier on Saturday. There, Islamists attacked MP and local development minister Michael Gove. Footage shared on social media shows Michael Gove surrounded by a large contingent of police trying to keep dozens of Muslims away from him as he walks through the station. However, they still attack the British politician and physically harass him. The police have to escort him away. Later, footage from the street emerged where the crowd shouted slogans such as “shame on you” at the politician. It is unclear whether the footage predates the Victoria Station attack.
As can be seen from the later footage circulating on the networks, the situation did not calm down at the station even in the evening. Police there face firework and firecracker attacks.
