On October 21, 2021, Baldwin fired a live ammunition. However, he was told beforehand that the weapon was not dangerous. Forty-two-year-old cameraman Halyna Hutchins lost her life, and forty-eight-year-old director Joel Souza suffered a shoulder injury.

Baldwin was scheduled for a pretrial hearing Wednesday. According to AFP, however, he did not appear, instead his lawyers delivered a document in which he maintains his innocence.
The actor claims that he did not pull the trigger before the shots, which the prosecutor’s office initially acknowledged and dropped the first charges. In January, however, a new accusation was made, based on the conclusions of independent forensic experts.
According to them, the gun was not modified to fire without pulling the trigger. The actor, while maneuvering the revolver, had to pull the trigger while rehearsing the scene so that the shot would go off, experts say.
Baldwin faces 18 months in prison if convicted, AFP reported. Also facing charges of involuntary manslaughter is Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who was tasked with supervising gun safety during filming and who, like Baldwin, has previously said she feels innocent.
