After nine months, little Emil’s remains were found in France. A two and a half year old boy went missing during the summer holidays during a family celebration in a small village in the Alps. The cause of his death is unknown.

So far we know that he went missing last July 8 in the early evening shortly after 5:00 p.m. in the village of Le Vernet, which lies near the Alps at an altitude of 1,200 meters above sea level.

At that time, Emil came to his grandparents for the holidays, his parents were no longer with him. He was last seen by neighbors in the street, the police received a report shortly after and an extensive investigation began.

Witnesses were sought, police and soldiers were involved in the search, searching 97 hectares of forests and fields, even the houses and cars of neighbors. Dogs and drones were also involved in the search, but little Emil could not be found.

Even last summer, the search expanded, investigators were working with several hypotheses. On the one hand, it could have been an accident, something could have happened to him, but also, according to them, it could have been a kidnapping. These are the variants that remain today. The parents also pleaded several times through the media for help in finding their son.

The investigation continued until recently, as recently as last week, reconstruction was underway, in which 17 people were involved.

On Sunday, the remains of little Emil were discovered by an excursion boat, about two kilometers as the crow flies from the village where he disappeared last July. According to the newspaper Le Figaro, the woman brought the skull to the police, which proved to be his remains. According to the same newspaper, this woman lives in the area where the boy disappeared.

Dozens of police officers and soldiers, as well as dogs that specialize in searching for corpses, are now searching the entire area again. Everyone is trying to find more remains, clothes or clues, anything that could lead to further investigation to determine the cause of death.

Police cordoned off the area completely to allow investigators to work. They also blocked entry to the village based on a decree issued by its mayor, so only local residents are allowed there.

People are questioning why the boy’s remains have only been found now, nine months after he went missing. One explanation is that there was vegetation everywhere in July, so it was difficult for the police to find anything, anyway, this is the story that is moving France now,
