In Germany, a 25-year-old man died on Friday after being attacked by an unknown person in Münster in the west of the country on Sunday during Christopher Street Day, an event in support of the LGBT community. The police and the prosecutor’s office informed about it, writes the DPA agency.

The man tried to intervene when the aggressor insulted the participants of the event. The police arrested the suspect, a 20-year-old man from Münster, on Friday.

The suspect yelled at several women that they were “lesbian whores” and that they should “get out,” and threatened them physically. The man asked the aggressor to stop the insult. “These efforts to settle the situation led to the attack,” police and prosecutors said Friday.

Investigators had previously determined that the man lost his balance and was then punched in the face by the assailant. The victim lost consciousness and hit his head on the asphalt, suffering a brain hemorrhage. In the hospital, the doctors put him into artificial sleep, but he died of his injuries on Friday.

The attacker, described by witnesses as a man between the ages of 18 and 20, fled with one other person after the attack.

He is a 20-year-old man who lives in Münster. The public prosecutor’s office is requesting his arrest on suspicion of bodily harm resulting in death. The suspect is due to appear before a custody judge on Saturday. He has not yet commented on the accusations, according to Senior Prosecutor Dirk Ollech.
