The Zporosk nuclear power plant was disconnected from the last main line connecting it to the Ukrainian distribution system on Friday evening. However, according to the IAEA, the electricity is still in bad condition.
The Ukrainian side, according to the AFP agency, said that the largest nuclear power plant in Europe was disconnected after further bombing in the area.
In the Zporosk nuclear power plant there is a group of representatives of the IAEA from the company, who traveled there together with a delegation led by the agency’s Rafael Grossi. Today, the employees of the power plant told them that it was disconnected from the last main line, but that they will use the branch line that connects it to the nearby thermal power plant and they will now supply the produced energy to st. This way, in case of need, it can be used to supply energy to the power plant.
At first, the expert on the situation at the power plant should have been published for five weeks, but Grossi said after the destruction of the power plant that its physical integrity had been violated, several times.
The Russian Ministry of Defense said on Saturday that the Ukrainian forces tried to capture the power plant on Friday evening. Both sides have repeatedly accused each other of being the headquarters of this nuclear facility, which is occupied by Russian invasion units, but is still operated by Ukrainian technicians. The claim of the involved parties cannot under normal circumstances be verified from independent sources.
