VIDEO: “It’s going to be a long winter.” Gazprom predicts a new ice age for Europe without gas

The Russian gas company Gazprom has released a video showing the massive frosts that Europe is allegedly facing without Russian gas supplies. “It’s going to be a long winter,” he says. A few days ago, the company announced that it was suspending the operation of the Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline until further notice. It previously claimed that the shutdown was due to technical problems, but now it says that the gas will start flowing only after Western countries lift economic sanctions against Russia. The leaked document shows that the sanctions are having a huge impact on the Russian economy.

The video begins with the arrival of a Gazprom worker at the company’s facility, in which he turns the switches to shut off the gas flow. In other shots, there is a video montage of frozen European cities, into which the wind drives snow.

The footage is accompanied by a wistful female voice singing in Russian about a “big, long winter”.

In response to the Nord Stream 1 shutdown, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told Europeans to expect a tough winter due to Russia’s invasion of his country, which has led to restrictions on oil and gas exports from Russia. According to him, Moscow wants to destroy the normal life of Europeans.

“Russia is preparing a decisive energy strike on all Europeans this winter,” Zelenskyy said. “They are trying to attack with poverty and political chaos where they cannot yet attack with missiles,” he added.

Europe is trying to cut itself off from Russian energy supplies. But it mainly concerns oil. Finance ministers and central bank governors from the G7 group of developed countries agreed to introduce a price ceiling for Russian oil and oil products. The mechanism for setting the ceiling has yet to be decided. The measure will include a ban on the provision of services enabling the transport of Russian oil and oil products if the purchase price exceeds a set ceiling.
