Volkswagen ID.3 got a new infotainment and a more powerful version

--

Volkswagen introduced a facelift of its purely electric hatchback ID.3 about a year ago, but now it presents its other improvements, which focus mainly on infotainment, equipment and partially also the drive system. The automaker demonstrates the improvements on the new version of the ID.3 Pro S model.

This motorization originally offered a standard output of 150 kW (204 hp), however, after the upgrade, it will offer a standard output of 170 kW (231 hp) in the German market. In other European markets, customers can choose to increase power after purchase via the new power-on-demand feature.

The power increase from 150 to 170 kW means acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.1 seconds (an improvement of 0.8 seconds). The range according to WLTP should then be around 559 kilometers per charge, which means an improvement of 13 kilometers, which was achieved through higher efficiency.

The battery with a capacity of 77 kWh now offers a charging preparation function, thanks to which the battery is preheated or cooled to optimal charging temperatures. Charging takes place at a power of up to 175 kW, thanks to which the charging time should be shortened by a few minutes, especially on cold days.

The big news in the cabin of the new ID.3 Pro S is the new 12.9-inch infotainment screen, known for example from the VW ID.7 model. The new system offers a more intuitive menu, faster operation or a smart voice assistant IDA with support for Chat GPT artificial intelligence.

Illuminated sliders are finally located below the screen and the driving mode selector has moved to the steering column, similar to the ID.7 and other new models of the concern. The automaker also promises to improve the buttons on the steering wheel, which are still capacitive.

It also promises an improved head-up display with augmented reality and better safety and comfort equipment, including Park Assist Plus with remote control via a mobile phone or the Side Assist system, which prevents the doors from being opened if a vehicle is approaching. An optional novelty is the new Harman Kardon audio system with 12 speakers.
