Boeing is still citing a 2025 delivery date.

Boeing’s first customer for the new 777X long-haul planes does not expect to receive them until 2026. This is another delay in the delivery of the world’s longest passenger plane, which Lufthansa was originally supposed to start flying in 2019.

Until now, both Lufthansa and Boeing indicated the latest delivery date in 2025. The shift in the date was announced by the head of Lufthansa at a meeting with journalists on the company’s results. Another customer of this type of aircraft was more skeptical earlier. Emirates already said last year that they expect the plane in 2026 at the earliest.

When presenting the latest quarterly results, Boeing said that it expects the first deliveries to customers in 2025. At the same time, representatives of the company pointed out that it will depend on the approval of the aviation authority FAA.

So far, Boeing is conducting test flights with the first plane, according to records on Flightradar24.com, practically every day. The other three produced pieces are essentially discontinued.

For carriers, this is another complication in planning long-haul flights. Therefore, Lufthansa is currently acquiring more Boeing 787s and Airbus A350s.
