The day will now have 26 hours. Big changes are coming that will affect absolutely everyone

--

Some areas are beginning to flirt with the idea that there should be more hours in the day than there are today. All sorts of suggestions are being made, and it’s quite possible that we’ll see big changes soon. After all, where is it written that a day should necessarily have 24 hours, as it is today?

What did they come up with?

One of Norway’s regions has already taken steps to enforce 26-hour days. He has even already sent a request to the European Commission to be approved for the appropriate time zone. The reason is said to be so that people can spend more time together. But also the support of local values, or the effort to attract more residents to this remote region. A longer day could bring significant benefits here, as Politico points out.

Behind the proposal stands the Norwegian city of Vadsö, which is located in the very north of the country in the Arctic region. The EU has already started to deal with the unusual request. However, it is certain that if only one region switched to a twenty-six-hour day, it would mean that time would be desynchronized in a significant way. Otherwise he would be counted here and differently in the rest of the world.

Problems would be solved

This region really has great specifics. According to the locals, there is no hectic lifestyle here. After all, the very fact that people willingly endure in such an inhospitable part of the world means that they simply want to live differently. This difference could now become even more pronounced.

Vadsö representatives admit that they are having trouble attracting more people to the area, and believe that 26-hour days could help. For example, people would have more time for their leisure activities, family, learning new languages or fishing.

So far, it doesn’t seem likely that the request will be approved anytime soon. When it comes to issues of time, there are big differences even within Europe. For example, the states are not able to agree on canceling the alternation of summer and winter time, let alone to agree on a new time zone.
