From May 2, citizens can use their mobile phone electronic identity card when handling their affairs at the Prague 10 City Hall. The tenth city district joined the eDocuments project two months earlier than required by law. She informed about it on social networks. According to the law, municipalities with extended jurisdiction will obligatorily recognize the identity card in a mobile phone from July 1.

Prague 2 already joined the project at the beginning of February. “We decided to join the project ahead of time in order to make it as easy as possible for people to communicate with the office and thus prepare for the legislative change,” said the mayor of Prague 2, Jan Korseska (ODS).

And Prague 14 already enabled people to use the “citizen in mobile phone” to use verification at the workplace in January. In mid-April, the municipality allowed members of the public to prove their identity in the eDoklady application at various locations in the metropolis.

“In pilot operation, this option is available at all workplaces of the driver’s register, the vehicle registry and at the workplaces handling traffic violations or at two locations of the public services department at the New Town Hall and Škoda Palace,” said Vít Hofman, spokesman for the Prague municipality.

“The service is available in the first wave at the vehicle registry offices located in the Business Center Vyšehrad, Bohdalec, Břevnov, Jarov and Vysočany. It is also available at all other workplaces of the department of traffic administration activities in Business Center Vyšehrad, i.e. at the workplace of the driver’s register and in all offices where traffic offenses are dealt with,” Hofman listed.

Proof of identity via the eDoklady application is also possible at the counters of the public services department at the New Town Hall and Škoda Palace. Here it will be possible to use eDocuments for verification agendas, Czech POINT and taxi service vehicle registration.
