A passenger train without passengers derailed on Thursday afternoon near Klínec in the Praha-západ district. It started on its own, there was no driver or any other staff inside at the time. After the accident, he ended up on his side off the rails. There were no injuries in the incident, the cause is being investigated by the police and the Railway Inspectorate. Trains between Čisovice and Měchenice have stopped, firefighters are on the scene. The train driver was taken out of service, according to information from the police, the Railway Administration and the Czech Railways (ČD). ČD anticipate that the section will remain without train traffic until at least midnight today.

The incident was reported before 2 p.m. “The three-car train probably started on its own at a time when neither the driver nor the passengers were in it. There were no injuries. The police will investigate how the incident happened, if there was a technical fault or why the train started.” said police spokeswoman Michaela Richter.

According to photos published by the Railway Administration, the train is lying on its side outside the tracks. “An accident train is on its way to the scene,” said Martin Kavka, spokesman for the Railway Administration.

According to ČD spokesman Filip Medelský, the empty motor unit left the Čisovice railway station in the direction of Skochovice. The train was shut down and locked at the time and there were no passengers or staff on board.

“There were no injuries in the accident and no one was endangered during the incident, as all safety rules worked immediately and traffic on the track was immediately interrupted even before the Regionova unit derailed at approximately km 24.6 in the valley of Bojovského potok,” said Medelský. Railway inspectors will investigate why the train started.
