You can’t win without a goalkeeper

All that remains is to congratulate our neighbors on their well-deserved promotion, even so the match could be commented on. A low-fat and unsalted performance, spiced up by a not-so-convincing performance by the goalkeeper, could not have ended in any other way than defeat.

As for the actual performance of goalkeeper Jakub Milota, scoring one goal with a slow shot from the blue without flowing, or letting the puck slap from the side guard and even from a spin, does not look very good. It completely obliterated an otherwise solid performance.

Weak attack

But the rest of the team is not a scapegoat, even they were not able to show anything that would have an appropriate superstructure. Replaying shooting positions with recordings in worse areas and shooting from disadvantageous places did add to the number of shots, but definitely not the number of chances created.

If we add the big problems in defense when putting pressure on the disc in the power of the opponent, we can take the defeat by one goal even more positively. It is with a heavy heart that I say this performance was not worthy of even advancing to the quarter-finals, let alone succeeding in it.

Then again in a year

This year’s championship of players under the age of eighteen is therefore ending for the Czech wards, and it must be added that deservedly so. However, this does not mean that they should hate hockey and stop playing it. On the contrary, they can learn something from mistakes and defeats, even if they are important.

Personally, I expect that, despite the poor performance in goal, we will see Jakub Milota one day in an NHL team jersey. Even in this match, apart from two misses, he performed well. But he still has a lot of work to do on himself.
