Should Alex Pereira one day move up to heavyweight, he’ll have his opponents taken care of.

Jon “Bones” Jones has been linked to a fight against Stipe Miocic for an awfully long time, which has left the heavyweight division at a bit of a standstill. Injuries to one or the other fighter are delaying their clash, and even the appointment of an interim champion has not exactly broken the ice of the already stagnant division.

Tom Aspinall, as the interim champion, is demanding a unification fight with King Jones, while Miocic continues to wait for his chance. And to make matters worse, Alex Pereira also let it be known that he would like to move up to the highest weight category, where he would like to fight for a third championship belt. Unfortunately for him, the UFC has yet to reject this move, but Jon Jones obviously doesn’t. He would even prefer Pereira over Aspinall.

“I’ve long been at the point where I have to look at the size of my opponent from a marketing point of view. I’ve done so much in my career that I don’t have to prove anything to myself anymore, I only understand the language of money.” launched Jones while conversing with fans on the X social network.

“Tom Aspinall is not a big enough name to be interesting to me. He can only arouse interest in England, while someone like Alex Pereira can do it anywhere. The speed with which he shot to the top is beyond the memory of the sport.” he pointed out.

“Tom is just a challenger who won the interim belt against another challenger, there are a lot of people like that. I, on the other hand, saved the tournament in New York’s Madison Square Garden. Now I look at it from a different angle. I don’t care what England fans want to see. I’m interested in what will be most beneficial for me.” Jones stated.

For a long time, it seemed that the duel with Stipe Miocic could be the last for Jon Jones. In the end, however, he admitted that he will find the strength for two more fighting appearances, while Alex Pereira could be his partner in one of them.

The question remains what will happen in a few months. At this moment, Alex is part of the light heavyweight division, where he would like to defend his belt in the summer. And he even hinted that he would give that chance to Jiří Procházko.
