The new Volkswagen Golf has a Czech price list. It starts at over half a million

The Volkswagen Golf was shown in a modernized version at the end of January this year. At that time, there was also information that the liter three-cylinder was ordered from the offer, and the role of the basic engine in the offer will be filled by a four-cylinder with a volume of 1.5 liters. It still has a turbocharger, but the engine is detuned to only 85 kW.

The newly launched configurator confirms this, even the cheapest Golf in the Limited version has a 1.5-liter engine. It also shows that the cheapest diesel will cost 723,900 CZK in the Life version with an output of 85 kW and a manual six-cylinder engine. With the Life equipment, the mild hybrid eTSI is also the cheapest available, from 743,900 crowns, also with an output of 85 kW.

In terms of prices, we can compare the novelty with the year 2020, when the eighth generation came to the market. Back then, it started at 479,900 crowns, but with a three-cylinder 1.0 TSI with an output of 81 kW. For the current base price of 554,900 crowns, you get a larger engine and better electronic equipment, including the newer infotainment MIB4.

If we compare the more powerful, 110kW version of the 15-litre petrol before and after the modernization, its base price has risen by 132,000 crowns. In both cases, it is the cheapest available in the Life trim, but since the launch of the Golf VIII on the market four years ago, regulatory requirements for the equipment of new cars have increased and, in general, all cars have become significantly more expensive for a number of reasons.

The configurator is not complete, it does not yet contain illustrations of all versions or all colors, and we dare to believe that the lists of basic equipment of individual versions are not complete either. Mainly because all versions from the basic Limited to the currently top R-Line have the same equipment.

So, the various versions of the Golf will include an army of driving assistants and guards, including the newly mandatory ones, as well as adaptive cruise control, front and rear head airbags, front side airbags including a central airbag, LED rear lights, automatic headlights, IQ.Light headlights with LED technology Matrix, rain sensor, automatic dimming of the interior mirror, parking sensors at both ends of the car, automatic parking assistant, 360° camera system, IDA voice assistant, electrically adjustable, folding and heated exterior mirrors, wireless smartphone mirroring, 12.9″ central display with new infotainment MIB4, 10.25″ display in place of the instrument panel, ambient lighting in 10 colors, 16″ alloy wheels or front seat belts with adjustable height.

Heated seats and steering wheel and heated windshield washer jets are available as part of the winter package. At least lower trims don’t come with built-in navigation or automatic high beams; both can be activated additionally in the car, but at an as yet unknown price.

The basic Limited equipment will not be part of the standard offer, according to information from the Czech representative of the brand, it will only be available until the end of June this year or until stocks run out. And although the configurator does not yet reflect this, a version with a power of 150 kW and all-wheel drive should also be available.

The station wagon version, traditionally called Variant at Volkswagen, is of course more expensive than the hatchback, depending on the version by around 25,000 crowns. It is thus possible to purchase it cheapest from 579,900 crowns, the 85kW turbodiesel starts at 754,900 crowns in the Life trim, and the cheapest 85kW mild hybrid eTSI is also available for 769,900 crowns.

The official price list on the website of the Czech Volkswagen dealership is not yet available for download, the pages of the Golf and Golf Variant models only offer subscription to the newsletter and say that the pre-sale will start “soon”. In the same timeframe, we will hopefully also learn the details of the individual equipment and more detailed information about the eHybrid plug-in hybrids and the GTE, GTI, GTD or R versions.

“The new Golf has all the prerequisites to continue the sales success of its predecessors, of which more than 37 million units have been sold since 1974.” Jakub Šebesta, director of the Volkswagen passenger car division of Porsche Czech Republic, an importer of Volkswagens, does not skimp on optimism.
