My friends called me asking if I wanted to go out for a beer with them. But for the past fortnight I have been flying straight from work to the client and there I am working until the night to complete the order for him.

I am of the opinion that while one is young and full of vigor one should earn as much money as possible. Secure yourself and your family, have finances for necessary expenses, for pleasure and hobbies. That’s why I’ve been going full throttle for several years now. I work a lot, once a year I take a vacation for three to four weeks straight and go to see the world. I’m not in a permanent relationship yet, but I’m seeing women and I’m happy with them.

My brother David has always been a go-getter by nature. After finishing high school, he didn’t want to continue studying. He likes peace. He found a low-paying job in an office where he performs administrative work. He enjoys work, there are no high demands on him. Then he goes home, where he plays computer games all afternoon. Sometimes he goes out for a beer with his friends or a female friend appears in his life.

The brother complains about the lack of money, but he does not want to earn

We both live in an apartment on which we pay the mortgage. While I’ll make good money on it, my brother won’t have much left after deducting the payment amount. With my nature, I would never complain to anyone that I’m sick and that I don’t have money for something. I just push as hard as I can and live by it. And if I don’t have it, I’ll adjust the expenses accordingly.

David likes to go to his mother’s for lunch. There he complains about how complicated his life is. “Mom, today is a really hard time. I have to pay the mortgage and I’m almost behind on my salary. Unlike Vašek, I can’t even go on vacation.” he calmly feeds his mother his opinions in front of me. Whenever I tell him to get up from the computer and go to work, he says in a raised voice: “You say it, but I have it set up differently in my life. I have to rest, otherwise I feel weird. And I also like harmony to feel good mentally. Divide the day between work, fun and sleep. Not just work.”

The last time my brother and I were at my mother’s for lunch, I noticed that my mother was pushing him money. They both realized I saw it. And so the mother had to come out with the truth: “I’m adding a few thousand to David for his terrible mortgage. He doesn’t have any money left in his paycheck. You have a better life, you have more money.” I didn’t want to argue, so I kept quiet. I just added ironically: “You’re good, mom, David really needs help.”

The next day I called my brother and told him my opinion forcefully: “Hey, if you’d better move your ass and earn those few grand instead of some old pensioner giving them to you. Maybe mom can buy something with that and subsidize a grown, sane guy at the computer instead.” My brother was very angry that I was sticking my nose into things that I had nothing to do with, that he didn’t want anything from his mother. She says it’s her decision. I will not deal with it further.
