Dancer Natálie Otáhalová (23) she recognized dancer Jan Onder (38) during the StarDance dance competition. As she nostalgically recalls today, 2019 was crucial for her in many ways. “It was a terribly beautiful time – I was only nineteen years old and at the same time I was graduating. In retrospect, I wonder how I could have managed it. I’m a bit in a fog and I don’t understand that I managed it,” looking back, a likable dancer who also stands out among others thanks to the beautiful curly hair she cares for unusual hair product.

Natalia, how would you describe your fashion style?
My fashion style is described by a dress by the designer Vlaďka Kouřilová. I love looser pieces because I prefer to feel comfortable in my clothes rather than walking around in tight dresses and a short mini skirt.
As a dancer, you can certainly afford bolder models.
I just don’t feel good in them. I have nothing against this kind of fashion, but my partner sometimes tells me this himself – I’m a bit clumsy and sometimes throw up on food. For example, white things are out of the question for me. White sneakers are also a hell of a lot, even though I love them so much. Sometimes I’m a tomboy when it comes to dressing up – I like to wear sweatpants.
How do you take care of your beautifully curly hair? Do you practice the Curly Girl Method?
I don’t even know if I use this method. I’m a bit of a slacker and often forget about some hair care. I go to Petra Měchurová’s salon, who a year ago gave me bangs, which I had wanted all my life. When she cut it for me afterwards, I was scared that I had gone through with it. But Petra knew what she was doing, and she also advises me on specific shampoos for curly hair every time. Currently, I often use Sea salt spray. It’s real sea water that does a lot of good for curly hair and gives it shape.
I know we won’t be seeing you on StarDance this year, but are you going to watch the show?
Of course I’m still watching who’s there. I know some of the actors who will be dancing there, so I already know how everyone is doing. For example, I know that Oskar Hes is very handy. It is true that last year we had a dance performance practically every Saturday with my partner, or with Matouš Ruml, with whom I danced in 2019. During StarDance, in short, the prom season is at its peak, and it must be said that last winter was wonderful. But we have no problem playing StarDance backwards at home.
You met your partner Jan Onder at StarDance. Do you still have nostalgic memories of it? Are you celebrating an anniversary?
We celebrate it once in a while. I don’t know how many times we’ve done that in the past five years. It was a terribly beautiful time – I was only nineteen years old and at the same time I was graduating. In retrospect, I wonder how I could have managed it. I’m a little confused and I don’t understand that I managed it.
It was love at first sight?
She wasn’t, but we found our way to each other.
So how did Honza make an impression on you at first sight?
I know I really liked his voice and his sense of humor about him. I must say that laughter is very important in my life – I laugh very often and very loudly. I usually don’t have it at home after ten o’clock, because the neighbors might come. We have a lot in common, whether it’s dancing or acting.
You are fifteen years apart in age. How does it manifest itself?
Of course it does, but not in a bad way. John grows young next to me and I grow old. I would like a puppy and Honza would already like to start a family. At the age of 23, I still don’t want it. I’d like to start with the dog. It all takes time, so we’ll see how it goes in the future.
