The Prague municipality will give the Gallery of the City of Prague (GHMP) 34 million crowns for works of art that will be created in the vestibule of the Prague metro station Florenc and under the newly created Dvorecký most between Prague 4 and Prague 5. The allocation of the money was approved by the councilors of the capital, the municipality informed. The Synapse light installation in Florence by Jan Poš will cost about 18 million crowns, the set of works intended for the Dvorecký bridge will cost the city about 16 million crowns.

At their first meeting in April, Prague councilors approved the implementation of the light work Synapse, the author of which is Jan Poš. It will be located in the lobby of the Florenc metro station in the passage connecting the north and south metro lobbies on line C. In total, the work and work should cost approximately 18 million crowns, and people could see it on site as early as 2026. The councilors also approved the provision of funds for the GHMP for this year to realize a botanical garden of public lighting lights from around the world at the Dvorecký bridge.

The work Synapse emerged from the international competitive dialogue Light for the Metro. The placement of the new work of art should take place in 2026. “Transport and art nowadays have big and strong intersections, and I am very happy that we manage to fulfill this connection very well. This is because we are cultivating the public space in which we move every day and which has a huge influence on us, which I consider extremely beneficial,” said Prague’s Deputy Mayor for Culture Jiří Pospíšil (TOP 09).

“We will not only repair the Florenc metro station, which is currently undergoing extensive modernization, but also light it up with a new work of art. It is important that the subway lobby is not only technically functional, but also nice to look at. This is a continuation of the iconic sculpture of the clock in front of the subway station, which we managed to restore last year,” said Deputy Mayor of Prague for Transport Zdeněk Hřib (Piráti).
