Post-music, Anna Vaverková or Mat213 will not be missing
It has to come out. The music-obsessive magazine Reflektor, which you know from the Radio 1 broadcast, will celebrate its fifth birthday. On May 1, there will be a live show from the premises of the Akropolis Palace in Prague. The evening will be hosted by the program’s authors – music columnist and dramaturg Vojtěch Tkáč plus Radio 1 program director Zdeněk Lichnovský. The Anděl Prize winner Anna Vaverková, the post-music group, the couple Mat213 and Zdena and the virtual musician NIVVA with producer Aid Kid will perform as guests. DJs nevertouch and TMA will also be an integral part of the evening. You can also listen to the entire celebration live on Radio 1.
The first episode of the Reflektor program was broadcast on Radio 1 on May 1, 2019. To celebrate the half-round jubilee, the music-obsessed magazine will head to Akropolis Palace as part of the Pulz concert series. “We’ve been meeting every Wednesday for 5 years now and we still have something to say to each other. Even more amazing is that anyone actually wants to listen to it. We are the ripe apples of domestic music journalism and together we are going to harvest in the form of a big celebration at the Akropolis Palace,” says Reflektor co-author Zdeněk Lichnovský and continues: “I’ve always loved the concept of American late night shows, and this night could kill them forever. You must come out after us, indeed.’
After the Small Stage of the Akropolis Palace is sold out, the celebration of 5 years of Reflektor moves to the Great Hall. The audience will be offered the possibility of sitting and an overall better experience – during the concerts, an LED screen or a grand piano will be used. DJ Martin Nouza, known under the pseudonym nevertouch, will complete the live broadcast and performance in the May live talk show.“Having a show on Radio 1 is a dream come true. Sometimes I don’t understand that I’ve been experiencing it for 5 years. It will be exactly half a decade to the day since our first broadcast. The invitation was accepted by our friends, who are also among the most interesting personalities of the current alternative scene.” says co-author of the program and dramaturg of the Pulz series Vojtěch Tkáč.
The broadcast will be followed by an after-party hosted by DJ and producer TMA. The highlight of the entire evening will be the Reflektor DJ set. You can buy tickets for the music-radio event through the GoOut network or at the venue before the start of the event. The doors of the Acropolis Palace will open at 19:30, the show starts at 20:00 exactly.
About the Reflector: Obsessively, the music magazine Reflektor brings an overview of news from the domestic and foreign scene, a selection of outstanding singles across genres and, above all, reviews of major new albums. The show is moderated by the current program director of Radio 1 Zdeněk Lichnovský and music columnist and dramaturg Vojtěch Tkáč. Reflektor aims to emphasize the connection between mainstream and alternative regardless of genre boxes, but at the same time balancing between contemporary Czech/Slovak and foreign music.
