Were you surprised by the decision of ČEZ and the government to invite tender participants to submit binding offers for up to four nuclear units instead of the original binding offer for only one block in Dukovany?

Given the developments in the world and the fact that energy security is becoming more and more important, we expected this to some extent. At the same time, we were previously invited to submit a non-binding offer for three nuclear blocks, which we prepared very carefully.

We respect the decision of the Czech government and ČEZ. We followed the requirements and, taking into account the returns from the scale, we submitted a binding offer for other blocks as well.

When the decision did not surprise you, was it easy for you to prepare a new offer?

I wouldn’t say it wasn’t difficult. Preparing a good offer always takes a lot of time. We paid a lot of attention to the offer for other blocks.

Do you think that the extension of the tender was more advantageous for you or for the rival EDF?

I can’t speak for the competition without knowing what they offer. But by offering more blocks, we can take advantage of returns of scale. I can say that our offer is very competitive.

When building two blocks at once, we have many elements in common with our nuclear block design that improve the economics of construction. Our offer for multiple units is very attractive.

According to Prime Minister Petr Fiala, the offer for several blocks will bring savings of up to a quarter on one block. Did he refer to your offer?
