The showcase of talented composers, which took place on April 21 in the studio of the Czech National Symphony Orchestra, received enthusiastic applause from the professional audience. The selected composers presented their work to an international audience, including MUSEXPO founder Sat Bisla, Paramount’s Matthew Hearon-Smith, music supervisor Mason Cooper, Duncan Smith – head of music for Sony and Playstation, and Peymon Maskan, founder of Radish Music. Petr Wajsar, Dominik Svoboda and other domestic and foreign composers performed here. The entire event took place under the patronage of OSA and SoundCzech.

Composer Summit Prague is a unique project bringing together talented composers, filmmakers and representatives of the music industry. The Composers Showcase, which presented works to representatives of the largest music, film and technology companies, is also focused in this direction. The event was attended by Sat Bisla, the founder of MUSEXPO, who is behind the international success of many bands, including the success of Muse, singers Katy Perry and Adele. The concert was also watched by Duncan Smith, the head of music of the European part of PlayStation Studios, Sony Interactive Entertainment, the representative of Paramount – Matthew-Hearon Smith, the music supervisor Mason Cooper, who collaborated, for example, on the movie Jobs with Ashton Kutcher, and Peymon Maskan, who held the position of music director Apple projects.

“I am very happy that we can be a part of this project, because the support of young talents is very important for our professional association. I see the benefit not only in the opportunity to present one’s own original musical work, but also in the establishment of new professional connections and mentorship, which can help young artists in the further development of their artistic career.” introduced by Roman Strejček, chairman of the OSA board of directors.

Elia Cmíral, head of the Advisory Board, which decides on the performers and the results of the competition with OSA, which took place during the summit, ceremoniously opened the Showcase program and started with his composition. Matthew-Hearon Smith, of Paramount, created the terms of reference for this year’s OSA competition, which attracted more than 120 participants from 15 countries. Finalists of the competition Michal Worek, Aliaksandr Yasinski and Jan Vaněk also performed at the Showcase with their compositions.

During the Showcase, Tomáš Živor’s epic composition entitled Secret of the deep, Michal Work’s Heroic Journey composed especially for the Showcase, and Glen Gabriel’s composition inspired by the Scandinavian mythology of the First Gods were performed. There was also music from the game ARMA: Reforger by Bohemia Interactive, whose author is Dominik Svoboda, who also conducted it at the event.

“I am very happy with the amazing result the Music Composers Summit has achieved in the last two years. The Composers Summit is a perfect example of how creative artists, top performers, film and games can be connected not only through cultural aspects, but highlights how all of this can have a long-term impact on business, tourism and other areas. For SoundCzech, we believe that public investments should elevate the Czech music sector so that it becomes an unmissable part of the global music scene,” added Márton Náray, director of SoundCzech.
