Tramhaus will present his debut album in October at Bike Jesus

--

The Dutch quintet Tramhaus is one of the most awarded continental groups today. She managed to present her juicy and playful postpunk at festivals such as SXSW, Primavera Sound, Sziget, Levitation, Colors of Ostrava or Binic even before the release of her long-playing debut. The one under the name “The First Exit” will be released on September 20, 2024, and during the subsequent tour the group will also return to Prague. The only Czech Tramhaus concert this year will take place on Wednesday, October 30, in Prague’s Bike Jesus club, where local Vellocet Roll will also perform. The whole evening is framed by the unique Kabal with its DJ set. Tickets for the price of CZK 350 (plus fees) can be purchased through the Goout.cz network. The post-punk sensation Tramhaus emerged from the bustling independent scene in Rotterdam, which has a unique position on the Dutch scene. Tramhaus were born in the pandemic 2021, in a very short time their response spread far beyond the borders of their hometown and the entire Netherlands. In 2022, they succeeded with the hit single “I Don’t Sweat” and an EP named after their hometown, but the group decided to wait with the coveted album. During the last year, in cooperation with the home label Subroutine, a series of several seven-inch singles was released in a limited edition, now long sold out. The time for a long-playing debut is coming now – “The First Exit” will be released at the end of the summer, again under the banner of Subroutine Records. Its release is preceded by the euphoric single “Beech”.

“‘The First Exit’ may bring to mind other wonderful cases of processed noise – albums by the Pixies, Joy Division, Fat White Family or Nirvana. But Tramhaus are no copy, they have created their own collective creative identity born from many hours together on tour and in the studio , from unceasing cooperation and friendship,” says English journalist Richard Foster (The Quietus, Louder than War and others) in the accompanying text of the recording and continues: “‘The First Exit’ is a reflection of the band’s collective approach and work ethic that has seen them release six singles in eighteen months. But it’s also a break with the past through a current mission to capture the band’s titanic live sound in the studio.”

The album is really different from the group’s previous singles – significantly sharper, more direct and denser, without lacking the formation’s other assets: playfulness and catchiness. At the Prague concert, Tramhaus will be accompanied by local Vellocet Roll, who continue their mission to connect psychedelia, mystery and noise in endless repetitive rings, and the one and only Kabal, who will frame the entire evening with one of their famous DJ sets.
