It is a document marked with the code A/77/L.65 and entitled “Cooperation between the United Nations and the Council of Europe”. It talks about the “unprecedented challenges” facing Europe “following the aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine and before that against Georgia”.

At the same time, the aforementioned resolution calls for reparations for the damages caused to the victims of Russian military aggression and for “bringing to justice all those guilty of violating the norms of international law.”

The cited server adds that, in addition to China, Kazakhstan and other post-Soviet republics voted for the resolution, with the exception of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, which abstained from voting. But the document was also supported by countries that the Russian authorities describe as “friendly”, namely India, Brazil and Turkey.

The Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN, Serhiy Kislica, noted that Russian diplomats tried to remove the wording of the word “aggression” from the mentioned resolution, but they failed.

The Russian mission to the UN said in an official statement that the paragraph in question was “extremely politicized” and that it had “nothing to do with the issues of the resolution”. Russia’s representative to the UN, Vasilii Nebenzya, accused the authors of the text of “deliberately keeping silent about Ukraine’s eight-year-old war against the people of Donbas” and that the UN “also ignored NATO’s aggression against the former Yugoslavia.”
