Gloss: Miss World is here. Politicians, hurry to the queue!

The Czech Republic has Miss World again. And politicians can break free to ride on the popularity of a beautiful woman.

Krystyna Pyszková, a native of Třinec, after winning the beauty contest, is obviously awaiting a marathon of shaking her right hand and convulsive poses for photos in the shabby corridors of the ministries, which I professionally call “execution at dawn”.

The winner in the political race for a piece of stardom was Tomáš Zdechovský, a member of the European Parliament from the People’s Republic of Poland, who left nothing to chance and wooed the model right at the airport. In addition to the selfie in front of the plastic banner, he also gave us the fundamental idea that “being a model is not free”.

“A lot of people see their beauty, but they don’t see what a lot of hard work is behind it. And for that, the girls have enormous respect,” says Tomáš Zdechovský, at the time in the campaign before the European elections.

Among the members of the government, Jan Lipavský invited Pyszková as the first foreign minister. He welcomed her back to the Czech Republic and gave her a cut vase. (Editor’s note: After the publication of this text, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs clarified that the vase was actually received by the minister.)

After all, Lipavský had a head start – he met Pyszková even before the Miss World finals in India. He just had time because his plane crashed. What does a pretty face and long legs have to do with foreign policy? Not much, but the new miss is said to want to help developing countries. After all, like any other miss.

Today, the most beautiful woman in the world was invited to the Ministry of Justice, where she met with Minister Pavle Blažek. Why with him? Miss wants to help victims of sexual violence. What about the fact that Minister Blažek defends the maintenance of suspended sentences for sexual crimes, saying that “rape is not the same as rape”. But if a model comes, so what.

But seriously, what’s with the vases?

The list does not end there. According to her team, after Easter, Pyszková also wants to meet with President Petr Pavlo, Minister of Culture Martin Baxa, Minister of Education Mikuláš Bek and Minister for Regional Development Ivan Bartoš.

Only a meeting with the Minister of Defense Jana Černochová is missing for perfection. Because “Missy” want peace more than anything in the world!

However, Černochová – unlike her male colleagues, which is surely just a coincidence – does not plan to meet the model. On the contrary, when Lipavský took a photo with misska in Mumbai, she took a dig at him on the X social network: “What about world peace, did practically everyone want it and are they finally doing something for peace?”

Speaking of peace, the biggest Czech peacemaker – the head of ANO Andrej Babiš – surprisingly fell asleep in the “take a photo with Miss” race. At the same time, he is known for the fact that he likes to take pictures with anyone, including a rooster.

It is clear to me that I will get something for it. I’m certainly envious and mortified. And yes, it’s true that, for example, I’m probably half the height and twice the weight of the most beautiful woman in the world, not to mention my face. Still, I can’t resist writing it.

Beauty pageants are outdated, somewhat obscure entertainment that is good for both lifestyle and tabloid magazines. Not to the ministry.

The idea that it is a representation of the Czech Republic is ridiculous. Or do you perhaps remember any miss world from previous years from another country? Perhaps it will warm the heart of some Czech that out of a bunch of equally beautiful women, the winner is the one from Třinec. But that’s about all in reality.

In the Czech Republic, we have a lot of people who help, do charity, fight for better conditions for the disadvantaged. They would deserve the attention of politicians much more than a woman who is – with all due respect – mainly beautiful.

But that wouldn’t be worth the likes for a nice photo, it wouldn’t be possible to ride the wave of current interest and bask in the glow of fame. Kudos to anyone who resists.
