In the quarter-final between KP Tany and Chomutov, the home team succeeded for the fifth time. The Lionesses were not able to shoot from long range today, they converted only four out of 36 three-pointers. The home players made nine three-point baskets out of 24 attempts. Galíčková hit four three-pointers, who was Brňanek’s best scorer with 21 points. American Wynnová-Pollardová scored one more point in Chomut’s jersey, confirming her position as the second best scorer in the competition.

“We were Brno’s equal opponent. The defeat in the fifth game is all the more regrettable. It’s a shame about the match when we lost by a point here,” said Chomutov coach Pavel Staněk to the Nova Sport TV station, referring to the opening match of the series. “The opponent made fewer mistakes and went more for victory. I’m glad that the girls showed their face, that they can play basketball, and when they do things the way they should, we can play with anyone,” added the coach who took over the team before the season.

KP Tany Brno basketball players fulfilled the role of favorite after finishing third in the regular season. “We played well all season and were in third position. It’s always a bit of a bind when you’re on top. Those teams from the bottom then think that they can only win. Our girls were a little nervous, but I’m proud that we managed it and made it to the winning end,” said coach Krämer.

In the series between fifth-placed Hradec Králové and fourth-placed Slavia, there were two turnovers. East Bohemia first lost the lead 1:0, but dominated the last two matches. The women from Prague played the fifth game again with only seven players, and her two substitutes contributed only three points, while the opponent’s bench scored 28 points. The statistically balanced duel was also decided by three-point baskets, while the home team converted only four of 21, the visiting team made twice as many of them out of 25 attempts.

According to both coaches, the tighter rotation of Pražanek decided the fate of the series. “As in every game, we tried to apply pressure and speed up the game and the transition phase and make the opponent run, and I’m glad it worked out. I believed that we had to beat them for five games, and that was confirmed,” praised Hradec Králové coach Miroslav Volejník. “We played the entire series without a second quarterback, the strength ran out. Hradec had more rotation and today it was also about the fact that they hit more open three-pointers,” stated Slavist coach Dušan Medvecký.

The best scorer of the match was Slavist Alena Hanušová with 21 points, her teammate Kateřina Rokošová scored a double double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Hradec Králové, which is defending fourth place, was led by Charlotte Velichová with 16 points.
