A vote of 79 to 18 was the result of a vote in the Senate (upper house of the US Congress) on the military aid package for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan. The election took place at night on Wednesday after the vote was approved in the House of Representatives over the weekend.
In order for the passed law to enter into force, the only thing missing was the signature of President Joe Biden, who announced in a flash that he would sign the norm without delay. He did so in the middle of the afternoon.
