All components of the integrated rescue system went to the scene before 10 p.m. The commanding officer of the fire brigade, Štefan Livinka, told Novinkám that they caught a man under the Wilson Bridge. “We have not yet been able to confirm or deny whether there is another person in the water,” he added.

The river was searched by fire brigade divers in boats. They moved from the U Mráček weir to the so-called floodplain. Police divers also arrived after 11 p.m. and searched the area under the weir. “The rescue operation lasted until one o’clock in the morning. The police continue to investigate the incident and find out how the man ended up in the water,” Livinka told Novinkám on Sunday around 6:30 a.m.

Witnesses of the incident called the emergency line. “We received a report that a man is standing in Radbuza and screaming for help,” said police spokeswoman Michaela Raindlová.

Upon arrival, officers discovered that the subject was under the influence of drugs. He was acting restless and confused. “However, according to information from the scene, there should have been someone else in the water,” she added.

The drugged man ended up in the care of paramedics, who took him to the hospital.
