He is an active police officer, so he knows cases directly from practice. “I needed to write myself out of a wounded police soul,” Aleš Preis explains why he decided to create the script. He embarked on it in a pair with Jakub Režný (42), who became famous for the Dukla 61 miniseries. We then figured it out together and combined it together in such a way that everything worked,” says the criminologist.
Fifty fifty
The main case (and the secondary ones) and the police procedures used are based on reality, but the authors had to imagine part of it. “The ratio of reality and fiction is fifty to fifty,” says Režný. Another in a series of still similar crime stories, it might seem. However, the by-product is somewhat different. “Unlike other series, we tried to portray the sad reality in which detectives exist. It’s not always all sunny,” explains the Písek investigator.
Faithful as a document
Director Peter Bebjak praised the fact that he has a professional in the team. “He knows the environment, he can describe it in detail. He also acted as a consultant so that we would not make mistakes that could offend someone or be considered ridiculous and naive. We want to keep the investigation itself correct and as faithful as possible to the facts,” explains. Even to the extent that the viewer should have the feeling that they are watching a documentary at some points.
