“Delivery of most types of boilers is not a problem. The boiler can be with the customer within ten to fourteen days from the binding order. The capacity of plumbers, sometimes even chimney companies, is, and will continue to be, a far bigger problem,” said Ctirad Bryol from AB Top, which focuses on the sale of wood pellet boilers.
Interest in new boilers was weak during the first months of this year. The capacities of heating operators are therefore still free. However, this is gradually starting to change. The number of interested parties has been increasing since April, and companies estimate that the demand will grow even stronger in the summer. There may be a shortage of heating workers.
The complexity of the order also plays a role. Whether it is only a replacement of the boiler, or it also includes the addition of a storage tank or the replacement of radiators. All this must be carefully planned by the technicians.

“It is an overall longer process that cannot be handled in one week and therefore there is nothing to wait for,” pointed out Jan Tihelka, marketing director of boiler manufacturer Blaze Harmony. The heating engineers first meet with the customer, select a suitable technology option, estimate the installation, and then connect the boiler and put it into operation.
“If a person interested in replacing an old solid fuel boiler starts dealing with the heating company about replacing the boiler now, or possibly in the next two months, it should not be a problem to get it done by the end of the summer. If he starts solving it only in the summer, it is likely that he will not have time to replace it by the beginning of the new heating season,” declares Zdeněk Lyčka, a member of the Presidium of the Guild of Heaters and Plumbers.
At the beginning of September, people must stop using boilers of the first and second emission class, or those older than 20 years, when this labeling was not used at all. According to the estimates of the Ministry of the Environment, there are about 150,000 such boilers in the Czech Republic. The Association of Heating Technology Companies estimates this figure at even 250,000.

People can also replace the old boiler with a heat pump. But even its acquisition cannot be left to the last minute. For example, the pump manufacturer Master Therm is now preparing to increase capacity in order to be able to install the equipment in time for interested parties who will order it during May. Those who come later can wait until autumn.
“Fortunately, the situation has stabilized in recent years, so the waiting times for the delivery of the selected heat pump are relatively short today. However, the assessment of the suitability of the object and the subsequent selection of the appropriate type, including project documentation, is not a matter of a few days, but rather weeks, especially when it is an older house and the replacement of an old wood or coal boiler,” said Vojtěch Formánek, Marketing Manager of Master Therm .
If people were to drown the “postara” even in September, they would face punishment from the municipality. The mildest punishment will be a call to replace the boiler. In extreme cases, however, the authorities can impose a fine of up to 50,000 crowns. And repeatedly.
